Description
MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MIS) SECTION LEADER
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to employ an experienced Management Information System (MIS) Section Leader. This role reports to the Technical Services Manager and the role holder is accountable to provide leadership to the Management Information Systems Team such that the short interval control system is robust, accurate, delivering the correct information and that the information is being turned into actions to improve performance of the mining operations.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure the SmartMine dispatching system devices are fully functional and all functionalities are working according to design
• Maintain good working relationships with mining operations, instrumentation team, IT support team and mining engineering team
• Minimize time of maintenance response
• Track and report on compliances to performance benchmarks
• Recommend opportunities to maximize OEE HME and Processing
• Ensure that equipment maximize productivity and achieve performance benchmarks
• Assist in the formulation of underground mine logistics strategies, especially the allocation of equipment and crews
• Keep in contact with customers to confirm their needs for whole shift with production requirements
• Ensure all system updates are completed on time, including daily, weekly, monthly and annual production and equipment plans
• Maintain good working relationships with mining operations and technical services engineers
• Perform low to mid-level trouble shooting of SmartMine Dispatch System, and ensure the application, communications network and data storage systems are functional
• Ensure the information is accurate and on time for stakeholders
• Ensure the information is properly recorded in the database and captured accurately into reports
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Engineering Degree
Experience Requirements:
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Previous experience implementing or operating a Dispatch System
• Good knowledge in database management
• Strong computer knowledge, SQL querying, report development
• Good knowledge of underground mining operations
• Must be able to work rotating shifts
• Strong leadership, planning and communications skills coupled with a sense of urgency
Skills Requirements:
• Attention to detail and ability to deal with numbers
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong ability to work with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures
• A strong personal commitment to implementation of proper safety, environmental and other policies and procedures, with the ability to foster strong safety culture among engineering personnel
• Ability to work extra hours independently and under pressure.

MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MIS) TECHNICIAN
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to employ an experienced Management Information System (MIS) Technician. This role reports to the MIS Section Leader and the role holder is accountable to maintain the equipment, devices, tags and network of the SmartMine UG dispatch system and to ensure that all device components and the leaky feeder system are properly maintained and kept in full working condition.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure the SmartMine dispatching system devices are fully functional and all functionalities are working according to design
• Keep in contact with mine dispatchers, MIS Engineers and IT department to provide the needed support to ensure the whole shift production requirements are met
• Formulate and maintain adequate system logistics and spare parts
• Manage spare parts properly to ensure there are adequate kits for repairs
• Ensure all system updates are completed on time, including daily, weekly, monthly and annual checks and maintenance
• Maintain good working relationships with mining operations, instrumentation team, IT support team and MIS Engineers
• Perform low to mid-level trouble shooting on the SmartMine UG Dispatch System, and ensure the application, communications network and data storage systems are functional
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• A qualification in Electronic & Communication technology or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
• Seven years’ experience in the mining industry with 4 years as a first line leader
• Installing and maintaining radio communications and the fleet management system
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office and radio networks
• Must be able to work rotating shifts
• Good knowledge on database management
• Strong computer knowledge, SQL querying, and report development
Skills Requirements:
• Strong leadership, planning and communications skills coupled with a sense of urgency
