Description

 MINING PRODUCTION DISPATCHER
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to employ an experienced Mining Production Dispatcher. This role reports to the MIS Section Leader and the role holder is accountable to operate the underground dispatch system ensuring optimized fleet and crews allocation aligned with mine planning and strategies, maximizing the overall equipment efficiency and mine production/development aligned with safety standards and procedures.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• To ensure that reliable and accurate data is captured into the management information system and that the data is analyzed in real time to support decisions for the operational first line leaders to maximize the overall equipment effectiveness
• Use the SmartMine FMS tool to monitor and control mining equipment in a manner that ensures safety and optimum equipment use
• Assist in the formulation of underground mine logistics strategies, especially the allocation of equipment and crews
• Keep in contact with customers to confirm their needs for whole shift with production requirements
• Monitor and track underground operations performance and KPI’s
• Ensure all mining production equipment is fully utilized to achieve optimum production targets
• Maintain good working relationships with mining operators and supervisors.
• Schedule assignments and co-ordinate activities of mine operators, maintenance crews and equipment
• Dispatch personnel according to schedules and work orders
• Operate radio equipment

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
• Five years’ experience in the mining industry with 3 years as a first line leader
• Experience as a mining shift boss
• Competent in operating computer communications and dispatching system
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office
• Must be able to work rotating shifts
• Good keyboard and computer skills a plus

Skills Requirements:
• Attention to detail and ability to deal with numbers
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong ability to work with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures
• A strong personal commitment to implementation of proper safety, environmental and other policies and procedures, with the ability to foster strong safety culture among engineering personnel

Description

 MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MIS) ENGINEER
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to employ an experienced Management Information System (MIS) Engineer. This role reports to the MIS Section Leader and the role holder is accountable to operate the underground dispatch system ensuring optimized fleet and crews allocation aligned with mine planning and strategies, maximizing the overall equipment efficiency and mine production/development aligned with safety standards and procedures.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• To ensure that reliable and accurate data is captured into the Management Information System and that the data is analyzed in real time to support decisions for the operational front line leaders to maximize the overall equipment effectiveness
• Ensure the SmartMine dispatching system is fully functional and all functionalities are working according to design
• Ensure the SmartMine system database is accurately kept up to date and used to generate reliable and relevant reports for business decision making
• Assist in the formulation of underground mine logistics strategies, especially the allocation of equipment and crews
• Keep in contact with customers to confirm their needs for the whole shift with production requirements
• Ensure all system updates are completed on time, including daily, weekly, monthly and annual production and equipment plans
• Maintain good working relationships with mining operations and technical services engineers
• Perform low to mid-level trouble shooting of the SmartMine Dispatch System, and ensure the application, communications network and data storage systems are functional

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Education Requirements:
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent
Experience Requirements:

• Seven years’ experience in the mining industry with 4 years as a first line leader
• Competent in operating computer communications and dispatching system
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Database management
• Must be able to work rotating shifts
• Good knowledge in database management
• Strong computer knowledge, SQL querying, and report development
• Good knowledge of underground mining operations

Skills Requirements:
• Strong leadership, planning and communications skills coupled with a sense of urgency
• Attention to detail and ability to deal with numbers

Mining Engineer Section Leader-074862
Description
 MINING ENGINEER SECTION LEADER
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania seeks to employ an experienced Mining Engineer Section Leader. This role reports to Technical Services Manager and the role holder is accountable to provide leadership, processes and procedures that ensure the optimal engineering designs in drill and blast, ventilation and paste fill.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Generate multiple iterations of long term mine designs and schedules of various mining methods to optimise resource extraction
• Maintain the essential link between long-term mine plans and the short-term planning
• Identifying opportunities that create value and develop strategic projects aimed at improving mine efficiency and flexibility
• Prepare the Ore Reserves statement accurately and on time
• Develop underground mine infrastructure design
• Produce yearly budget and LOM designs for financial evaluation
• Assist in proposing the equipment requirements for mining blocks to optimise productivity
• Application of information/design from the other technical sections namely Geology, Geotechnical, and Ventilation for mine designs using best practices and procedures
• Utilise proven and modern mine planning systems to achieve best practice integrated mine planning
• Ability to use mine planning software, e.g. Mine 2-4D / Studio5D Planner (Mine RP or CAE) and EPS, mineCAD and Studio3
• Responsible for providing business plan information before deadlines or scheduled date
• Undertake project work and troubleshooting as required for further optimization of mining methods, reducing dilution and achieving cost reductions
• Assist the Long Term Section Leader to complete the mine’s employee performance management processes to ensure optimum employee performance and take appropriate action to remedy any substandard employee performance or behaviour
• Establish and maintain high safety and engineering standards
• Other duties may be assigned depending on mine requirements

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• B. Sc in Mining Engineering from a recognized institution
Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 8 years underground mining experience including at least 5 years experience in a production environment, preferably in precious metals using narrow vein long hole stoping, Alimak stoping as well as drift and fill and narrow vein conventional mining
• Experience with paste backfill systems and in mine ventilation would be advantageous
• Exposure in the development of medium to long term strategies utilizing underground 3D mine design and scheduling software packages
• Thorough knowledge of Mine 2-4D planning software, EPS scheduling software or equivalent mine planning and scheduling software
• Highly proficient in MS Office Suite
• Strong communication skills both written and oral with the ability to clearly present and discuss schedules and plans with operations personnel
• Ability to execute project work, evaluate options and to write reports
• Exposure to working in remote locations
